University of Alabama at Birmingham

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is a vibrant and multicultural university in the heart of a modern and diverse city

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) traces its roots to the 1859 founding of the Medical College of Alabama. Today, UAB is a comprehensive urban university with a nationally recognized academic health center. UAB is the only public, four-year degree granting university in the state's largest metropolitan area. UAB is the largest research institution in the state of Alabama and the university is the largest employer in Birmingham.

Because from the very beginning, we've been a place for dreamers and doers, artists and scientists, idealists and realists. This is a university without walls, where no one is worried about fitting in — just standing out. UAB is your launching pad for a 21st century career, with opportunities you won’t find anywhere else. Want to be in a place where something is always going on, while still experiencing a tight campus community? There’s no need to settle for A or B when you can have both at UAB.
